World University of Design is a private university founded in 2018. Sonipat in Haryana is where it's situated. UGC has given its approval to the World University of Design. According to the Haryana Private Universities Act of 2006, the institute is recognised. For its many programs, World University of Design has received rankings from a number of platforms. In 2025, India Today ranked 29 out of 54 architecture institutions and 22 out of 62 fashion design institutes in India. Students at WUD are surrounded by a creative environment where undergraduate programs in Visual & Performing Arts (BVA, BPA), Architecture (B.Arch), Management (BBA), Design (B.Des), and Built Environment Studies (BA Hons.) are crafted to strike a balance between theoretical understanding and practical studio experience. The first step in admission to World University of Design is completing an online application and paying the required fee. Next, the university administers an aptitude test (DAT/AAT for degrees in design and visual arts, and GAT for management disciplines). Candidates may also be evaluated on the basis of their valid results from national tests such as the CET/CAT/MAT/XAT (for GAT), UCEED, NID, and NIFT (for DAT) or CEED. Candidates who make the short list are asked to a personal interview after the test; creative work or design portfolios may be needed. Candidates for the architecture program also need to submit their JEE (Paper 2) or NATA results. Successful applicants receive offer letters from the institution after which they must personally verify their documents and pay the required fees to complete admission.
WUD provides on-admission scholarships that lower tuition fees. These scholarships are given out on a first-come, first-served basis to the top 10% of admitted students and are determined by merit, such as academic achievement, admission exam scores, or particular qualifying requirements. Each semester, recipients must maintain a minimum CGPA of 7.0 and meet attendance requirements in order to continue receiving the benefit. A student may only claim one type of scholarship; if the continuation requirements are not fulfilled, the scholarship is revoked. WUD provided scholarships are:
WUD is a contemporary, 12- to 13-acre campus that is geared towards experiential and creative learning, and it is situated in Sonipat's lush Rajiv Gandhi Education City. It has workshops, specialised design studios, and advanced labs with industry-standard technology and software. It also has a well-stocked library, a material museum, and an art gallery on campus.
