NLSIU provides BA LLB (Hons.), 3-year LLB (Hons.), BA (Hons.), LLM program and PhD (Law & Social Sciences), and other mixed diploma programs. Admission is entrance-based: CLAT UG/PG to BA LLB/LLM, NLSAT-LLB to 3-year LLB, NLSAT-BA to BA (Hons) with selection through test scores, interviews and counseling.

Admission to 2025 NLSIU is provided through national/university entrance tests into UG (BA LLB) and PG (LLM) degree programmes, 3-year LLB (NLSAT-LLB) and BA (Hons) (NLSAT-BA), and PhD/MPP. Application forms must be submitted online before the deadline with supporting documents and requisite fees. Shortlisted candidates called for entrance exams and, if required, interviews. The selection and allotment of seats is done by taking the final ranked entry, and counseling and verification of documents. There are fees to pay in order to confirm admission, all interactions are online using official portals.
The 2025 placement drive of NLSIU saw the involvement of the best law firms, consultancies, corporates, and public sector units. Graduates were accepted in admission to litigation, corporate law, consulting, public policy, and international research institutions.
