Indian Institute Of Science Education And Research

The IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2026 is an important exam for students who want to study science at the Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER). This exam helps select students for special science courses like the BS-MS dual degree and the BS degree at IISER campuses across India. The test will be held online and will last for 3 hours. It will have 60 questions, divided equally among four subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. For each correct answer, students earn four marks, but for each wrong answer, 1 mark is deducted. Students who wish to take the exam must have passed or be appearing for their Class 12 board exams in 2024 or 2026, and be studying subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. There are specific mark requirements depending on the student’s category. The application process will start in the second week of March 2026. Students will fill the form online, upload their photos and signature, select exam cities, and pay the application fee. The admit card (which is like an entry pass) will be available online in the first week of June 2026 and must be carried to the exam centre. After the exam, IISER will conduct counselling to help students get seats in their desired IISER campus based on their scores.
