Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University (TNTEU), established by the Government of Tamil Nadu under Act No. 33 of 2008 which came into effect on July 1, 2008, is the first and only university in India solely dedicated to enhancing excellence in teacher education . Accredited with an ‘A’ grade by NAAC (CGPA 3.17) in its first cycle and granted UGC 12(B) status, TNTEU oversees the academic standards of over 730 affiliated teacher education colleges across the state. The university hosts six core academic departments Pedagogical Sciences, Value Education, Educational Psychology, Educational Technology, Curriculum Planning & Evaluation, and Educational Planning & Administration to foster advanced research and teaching innovation. Campus facilities include a biological museum, Tamil Culture Centre, media centre, and dedicated spaces for sports and cultural activities, along with gender equity programs and annual gender sensitization initiatives.
