Essential highlights of NIA Jaipur
National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur, or NIA Jaipur, is one of India’s top government colleges for Ayurveda, which is India’s traditional system of medicine. It was started in 1976 by the Government of India to teach students how to treat people using Ayurvedic methods like herbs, oils, yoga, and natural healing. NIA is approved by the Ministry of AYUSH and is now an Institute of National Importance, which means its degrees are highly respected across India and even abroad.
The NIA campus is in Jaipur, Rajasthan. It's peaceful and full of greenery, a great place to study and stay healthy. The campus has smart classrooms, Ayurveda labs, a huge herbal garden, a teaching hospital, a library, hostels, a cafeteria, yoga halls, and sports grounds. NIA offers courses like BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery), MD/MS in Ayurveda, and Ph.D. programs. Students learn from both books and real-life hospital training. After graduating, many students become Ayurvedic doctors, researchers, or work in hospitals like AIIMS, Max, or their own clinics.

To get into the National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA), Jaipur, students must first complete their Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. For admission to the BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) course, students also need to appear for the NEET-UG exam, which is a national-level medical entrance test. After clearing NEET, students are selected based on their score, rank, and counselling. The number of seats is limited, so higher NEET scores increase the chances of admission.
For postgraduate courses like MD or MS in Ayurveda, students need a BAMS degree and must qualify for the AIAPGET exam (All India AYUSH Post Graduate Entrance Test). Based on the score and performance in counselling, seats are allotted in different specialisations like Panchakarma, Kayachikitsa, Dravyaguna, and more. For PhD programs, a postgraduate degree in Ayurveda and an entrance test/interview conducted by the institute is required.
