Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences (UPUMS), Saifai, was formally established in May 2016 by the Uttar Pradesh State Legislature through Act 15 of 2016, upgrading the earlier Rural Institute of Medical Sciences & Research founded in December 2005. Since then, UPUMS has evolved into a multi‑facultied state university recognized under UGC Section 2(f), with accreditation from bodies including NMC, DCI, PCI, INC, NABL, NAAC, and ISO standards. UPUMS has consistently been ranked among the top 101–125 pharmacy institutions in India by NIRF in 2023 and 2024, and earned a highest ‘A’ rating in Uttar Pradesh’s paramedical college rankings. Its faculty includes award‑winning scholars like Prof. Ramakant Yadav, recipient of the prestigious Yash Bharti state award in 2016. 

The university comprises five faculties Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Paramedical Sciences offering a comprehensive range of programs. At the undergraduate level: MBBS (200 seats), BDS, B.Pharm, B.Sc Nursing, BPT, BMLT, BRIT, B.Optom, and various diploma courses. For postgraduate education: MD/MS (approximately 106–112 seats), M.Ch super‑specialty, MDS (Periodontology, 3 seats), M.Pharm (24 seats across four specializations), MPT, M.Optometry, M.Sc MLT, MRIT, and M.Sc Nursing. It also offers Ph.D. programs across multiple medical and allied disciplines.

Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences (UPUMS) Admissions at Saifai are primarily entrance-based and follow a structured, merit-driven process. For MBBS, B.Sc Nursing, and other UG programs, candidates must have passed 10+2 with PCB and qualify NEET-UG or UP CPNET, depending on the course. Diploma programs require 10+2 with PCB/PCM and are filled through CPNET merit. PG admissions like MD/MS, MDS, and M.Ch are based on NEET-PG/NEET-SS, while M.Pharm requires GPAT scores. Applicants must be at least 17 years old by December 31 of the admission year, and admissions are managed through national or state counseling based on entrance test ranks.
