Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering now part of JSS Science & Technology University, was established in 1963 under the aegis of JSS Mahavidyapeetha and inaugurated by Dr. T.M.A. Pai of Manipal. Awarded autonomous status by Visvesvaraya Technological University from academic year 2007–08, SJCE is approved by AICTE and accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). SJCE has earned recognition at both national and international levels. As a Lead Institute under the World Bank’s TEQIP scheme, it received significant funding (over INR 20 crore in Phase I and INR 12.5 crore in Phase II), achieving top performance across all key indicators, establishing industry‑funded labs (e.g. Bosch, Philips), and significantly increasing research output, postgraduate enrollment, and placements. Placements for 2023 reached over 90%, with the highest package at INR 56 LPA (for Computer Science) and the lowest around INR 7 LPA (Civil/Construction Technology Management), with top recruiters including Infosys, Microsoft, Intel, Bosch, Sony and Tech Mahindra.

SJCE offers two of its most well-known programs: B.Tech and MBA. The college provides both evening and regular B.Tech courses. The evening BTech program is designed to cater to individuals with employed diplomas. For all courses, the SJCE Mysore admissions procedure is done online and is regarded as entrance-based. Other admission tests such as Karnataka PGCET, KCET, and COMEDK UGET are acceptable.
