Essential highlights of KJSCE
KJSCE, a constituent engineering college of Somaiya Vidyavihar University (SVU), was established in 1983 by the Somaiya Trust on the lush 50-acre Somaiya Vidyavihar campus in Mumbai. In 2014, it was granted autonomy based on recommendations from the Maharashtra state government and the UGC. An 'A' grade initially granted in May 2017 and valid through February 2030, certifies the institution's NAAC accreditation. From 2018 to 2021 it continuously placed in the top 200 in NIRF and in 2024 it was still in the 201–300 range. SVU is associated with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), whereas KJSCE is also a part of the IUCEE consortium. Accolades include its Gold Status in the 2017 CII Survey and its 182 NIRF ranking in 2019.
According to its academic offerings outline and vision of research & teaching excellence, the college offers a variety of engineering programs, including undergraduate B.Tech., postgraduate M.Tech., and research-oriented Ph.D. degrees across multiple disciplines (e.g., Computer Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical, Information Technology). Aryabhat and Bhaskaracharya are two large academic buildings that span over 338,000 square feet. Other facilities include well-equipped labs, multimedia classrooms, an auditorium, seminar halls, a library, a canteen, sports facilities, and medical facilities.
Merit-cum-need and need-based scholarships (such as the Shri Ramlal Khetawat Memorial, Sakarbai K. Somaiya, and Mayadevi S. Somaiya Memorial scholarships), merit scholarships (such as the Benevolent Scholarship for high achievers), industry-sponsored scholarships from Blue Star, JSW Foundation, and Sulzer, and the internally operated PUSH (People United for Students’ Help) program that offers financial aid to students in socioeconomic need are just a few of the various ways that KJSCE supports deserving students.
