IGNOU is a other institute, founded in 1985. This page brings together what is on record for this course at IGNOU — fees, seats, eligibility, the admission route and placements — so you can judge it before you apply.

Most B.Sc programmes follow a similar pattern: the first year builds the foundations, the middle years go deep into the subject, and the final year is given over to electives, a major project and usually an internship.

Here that means front office, food production, housekeeping and hospitality management, with industrial training. Typical first jobs: hotel operations, food and beverage or hospitality management roles. Many graduates also go on to a master's degree.

The exact syllabus is set by the college or its affiliating university and changes from year to year, so ask IGNOU for the current semester-wise plan.

IGNOU has not published a fee for Discontinued (Sep 2023) - B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration on our record yet. When you ask, ask for the total across all 3 years — not just the first-year figure — and whether hostel and exam fees are included.

To get into Discontinued (Sep 2023) - B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration, you usually need Class 12 in any stream.

Admission to this kind of course is usually through NCHM JEE. Reserved-category candidates generally get a relaxation in the minimum marks. Check IGNOU's prospectus for the exact cut-off this year.

In most years, admission follows these steps:

1. Check that you meet the eligibility above and register for the entrance exam in time.
2. Take NCHM JEE and keep your scorecard.
3. Apply to IGNOU on its website (ignou.ac.in) or through the enquiry form on this page, and take part in counselling if a state or central body runs it.
4. Once you are offered a seat, verify your documents (marksheets, ID, category certificate if any) and pay the admission fee to confirm it.

The most recent placement data we hold (2023) show a placement rate of Between 70% and 80%, an average package of ₹8 lakh and a highest package of ₹16 lakh at IGNOU. These are college-wide figures, not only for this specialisation.

Placement numbers vary a lot by year and by branch. Ask the placement cell for the branch-wise report of the last two batches.

IGNOU runs 8 B.Sc specialisations in all. If this one is not quite right, compare it with:

• BSc in Chemistry
• B.Sc. (Hons.) in Anthropology
• Discontinued (Aug 2024)- Integrated B.Sc. + B.Ed. in Special Education
• Discontinued (Sep 2023) - B.Sc. in Zoology
• Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)
• Discontinued (Sep 2023) - B.Sc. in Mathematics
• B.Sc. (Hons.) in Biochemistry

Ask yourself — and the college — these questions first:

• Are you genuinely interested in front office? You will spend 3 years on it.
• What will the full course cost, including hostel and living costs?
• Are the placement figures above good enough for your goals? Ask for the branch-wise numbers.
• How does IGNOU compare with other colleges offering B.Sc in and around Delhi?
