HIMT is a leading private maritime training institute that since its foundation in 1998 has changed the face of the maritime training business in India. It is based in Chennai Tamil Nadu and is known to provide state of the art facilities and education on par with the industry. HIMT has been approved by Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping) and is affiliated with the Indian Maritime University (IMU), and is ISO 9001:2015 certified, and it is also recognized by maritime organizations worldwide such as the Nautical Institute. HIMT College Admission 2027
The HIMT college has a common entrance examination that is IMU CET, which is followed by medical fitness assessments, and interviews to take admission in the year 2025. All candidates are required to fulfill the age and academic qualifications, but there are relaxations of the same to the reserved categories. GME and ETO are required to obtain sponsorships by shipping companies that cover training, and guarantee employment after training. There are some application fees, which cost INR 1,000 and should be paid online. The shortlisted candidates are put through the eyesight and physical tests as may be required by DG Shipping. There are a limited number of seats with preference to top IMU CET rankers. Foreign students must have similar credentials and entry visas.
