Himalayan University (HU) is a private university in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh created in 2013 by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. HU is a university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Distance Education Bureau (DEB) and is also AICTE, PCI, BCI and RCI approved. The university is ISO certified, IAO accredited and is a member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU). HU has a range of undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and certification and doctoral classes in disciplines like Arts, Science, Commerce, Engineering, Management, Law, Pharmacy, Agriculture and Education.

Himalayan University provides an all-inclusive series of degrees such as Bachelor in Arts, Science, Commerce, Engineering (B.Tech), Management (BBA), Pharmacy, Law, and Agriculture; Masters in Arts, Science, Commerce, Engineering (M.Tech), Management (MBA), and Law; and the diplomas, certificates, and PhD courses. The admissions in UG courses are mainly based on CUET UG whereas the PG admissions are based on CUET PG or merit based admissions. Admission to PhD includes a master degree and performance in entrance tests and interviews. The program is developed to meet industry and international requirements.

Admission into Himalayan University into the 2025 academic year is carried out on the official site online. The candidates should then apply by registering and completing the application form with the correct information and then upload the required documents to include mark sheets and identity proof. UG programs in most cases are selected through CUET UG scores, whereas, PG admissions are through CUET PG or merit in qualifying examination. PhD students must pass an entrance test and an interview. The university keeps information on application status and significant figures, such as deadlines. Admission support can be offered through helpline, email and live chat. The process of document verification and paying the fee can be done online to have an error-free admission.

Himalayan University intends to provide a number of scholarships to the deserving and meritorious students. PhD scholars come with varieties of institutional fellowships amounting between INR 7,000 and 15,000 per month most preferably a NET qualified scholar. Other external fellowships UGC-NET JRF, CSIR-JRF and DBT-JRF, ICMR-JRF, ICAR-SRF, MANF-JRF, RGNF-JRF, and JNMF-JRF are also available according to government norms. PhD candidates who work on extramural research projects have access to project fellowships. Faculty members pursuing PHD are offered INR 10000-15000/- per month at 25% concession in fees. Students are not allowed to access two sources of funding at the same time.
