Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University (RPCAU), one of the Public institutes was founded in 1970 and upgraded as a central university in 2016 and is based in Pusa, Samastipur, Bihar. RPCAU is declared as an Institute of National Significance and is also accredited by UGC and by ICAR. The university has been regularly appearing in NIRF and QS World Rankings as being one of the top agricultural universities in India. RPCAU has several constituent colleges such as the RPCAU-Ag college, RPCAU-Engineering college, RPCAU-Fisheries college, RPCAU-Community science college and RPCAU-basic science college.

The campus has an enrolment of more than 2,000 students and provides undergraduate, post graduate, doctoral and diploma programs. Notable partnerships are Erasmus Mundus agreements with universities in UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, Greece and Finland and MoUs with leading Indian academic and research institutions. RPCAU offers a full range of courses encompassing B.Sc. (Agri, Community Science), B.Tech. (Agri Engineering, Biotechnology), B.F.Sc., M.Sc., MBA, M.Tech, and Ph.D. The admissions are made on the basis of ICAR AIEEA, University entrance test, and academic merit. Most courses have nominal fee structure and are varying depending on the discipline and many of the courses have full or partial fee waiver based on reserved categories and scholarships based on meritorious students.

Applications are currently open to the UG, PG, and doctoral programs at RPCAU with what one should expect to be ICAR AIEEA or university entrance exams, and passing academic grades as the major criteria. After passing the entrance exam, all students will be required to participate in centralized counseling. Physical verification of documents, payment of fees and enrolment procedures are done in line with the university timetable. There are reserved seats as part of the government policies and students can apply under scholarships as well as economically weaker or meritorious students. The timeline is quite rigid, and applications after the deadline are not taken. In post graduate diploma, there is direct admission on furnishing the required offline application form and documents.
