Bodoland University, established in 2009 under the Bodoland University Act passed by the Assam Legislative Assembly, is the first state university in the Bodoland Territorial Region, located at Rangila Katha, Debargaon, near Kokrajhar, Assam. Over time, the university has distinguished itself through notable achievements in sports during 2024–25 its students secured medals in national-level events including gold in archery and wushu. In January 2025, BU signed an MoU establishing two academic awards the Holiram Brahma and Rajendra Lal Narzary Awards to honour top postgraduate scholars in Science & Technology. The institution holds UGC recognition, is AICTE-approved for its MBA and MCA programs, and employs the UGC’s Choice-Based Credit System.
