B.Tech. in Artificial Intelligence at SSIU

If you are looking at B.Tech. in Artificial Intelligence, SSIU in Ahmedabad runs it as a 4-year, full-time undergraduate course. The intake is 30 seats a year. Fees for the full course come to ₹2.84 lakh (roughly ₹71,000 a year).

At its core, the programme covers how machines learn from data: programming in Python, probability and statistics, machine learning, neural networks, computer vision and natural language processing, with projects on real datasets.

SSIU is a other institute, founded in 2017. This page brings together what is on record for this course at SSIU — fees, seats, eligibility, the admission route and placements — so you can judge it before you apply.

Most B.Tech programmes follow a similar pattern: the first year builds the foundations (mathematics, science and programming), the middle years go deep into the subject, and the final year is given over to electives, a major project and usually an internship.

Here that means how machines learn from data: programming in Python, probability and statistics, machine learning, neural networks, computer vision and natural language processing, with projects on real datasets. Typical first jobs: machine learning engineer, AI developer, data scientist or research engineer. Many graduates also go on to a master's degree.

The exact syllabus is set by the college or its affiliating university and changes from year to year, so ask SSIU for the current semester-wise plan.

Here is how the fee on record breaks down. Fees are for the whole course unless marked otherwise, and apply to B.Tech programmes at SSIU as a group.

Colleges revise fees most years, and hostel, transport and exam charges are often billed separately. Confirm the current figure with SSIU before you pay anything.

To be considered for B.Tech. in Artificial Intelligence, you usually need Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics, plus Chemistry, Computer Science or another technical subject; most colleges ask for roughly 45–60% in these subjects. The minimum marks on record at SSIU are: X: 0.0, XII: 60.0, Graduation: 0.0.

Admission to this kind of course is usually through JEE Main and state engineering entrance exams. Reserved-category candidates generally get a relaxation in the minimum marks. Check SSIU's prospectus for the exact cut-off this year.

Here is the usual route in:

1. Check that you meet the eligibility above and register for the entrance exam in time.
2. Take JEE Main and state engineering entrance exams and keep your scorecard.
3. Apply to SSIU on its website (www.swarrnim.edu.in) or through the enquiry form on this page, and take part in counselling if a state or central body runs it.
4. Once you are offered a seat, verify your documents (marksheets, ID, category certificate if any) and pay the admission fee to confirm it.

The latest placement figures on record (2023) show an average package of ₹5.18 lakh and a highest package of ₹30 lakh at SSIU. 900 students were placed that year. These are college-wide figures, not only for this specialisation.

For B.Tech. in Artificial Intelligence specifically, the average salary on record is ₹3.1 lakh a year.

Placement numbers vary a lot by year and by branch. Ask the placement cell for the branch-wise report of the last two batches.

SSIU runs 12 B.Tech specialisations in all. Worth comparing before you decide:

• B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering
• B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering
• B.Tech. in Computer Engineering
• B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering
• B.Tech. in Mobile Application and Cloud Technology
• B.Tech. in Automobile Engineering
• B.Tech. in Cyber Security
• B.Tech. in Environmental Engineering
• B.Tech. in Civil Engineering
• B.Tech. in Information Technology
• B.Tech. in Cloud Technology and Information Security

Before you decide, it helps to be clear on these:

• Are you genuinely interested in how machines learn from data? You will spend 4 years on it.
• Can you manage ₹2.84 lakh over the course, plus hostel and living costs? Ask about scholarships and education loans.
• Are the placement figures above good enough for your goals? Ask for the branch-wise numbers.
• How does SSIU compare with other colleges offering B.Tech in and around Ahmedabad?
