B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering at MCKV Institute of Engineering

If you are looking at B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering, MCKV Institute of Engineering in Kolkata runs it as a 4-year, full-time undergraduate course. The intake is 60 seats a year. Fees for the full course come to ₹5.56 lakh (roughly ₹1.39 lakh a year).

At its core, the programme covers circuits, signals and systems, analogue and digital communication, microprocessors and VLSI design.

MCKV Institute of Engineering is a private institute, founded in 1999. This page brings together what is on record for this course at MCKV Institute of Engineering — fees, seats, eligibility, the admission route and placements — so you can judge it before you apply.

Most B.Tech programmes follow a similar pattern: the first year builds the foundations (mathematics, science and programming), the middle years go deep into the subject, and the final year is given over to electives, a major project and usually an internship.

Here that means circuits, signals and systems, analogue and digital communication, microprocessors and VLSI design. Typical first jobs: electronics engineer, embedded engineer, telecom or semiconductor roles. Many graduates also go on to a master's degree.

The exact syllabus is set by the college or its affiliating university and changes from year to year, so ask MCKV Institute of Engineering for the current semester-wise plan.

Here is how the fee on record breaks down. Fees are for the whole course unless marked otherwise, and apply to B.Tech programmes at MCKV Institute of Engineering as a group.

Colleges revise fees most years, and hostel, transport and exam charges are often billed separately. Confirm the current figure with MCKV Institute of Engineering before you pay anything.

To be considered for B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering, you usually need Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics, plus Chemistry, Computer Science or another technical subject; most colleges ask for roughly 45–60% in these subjects. The minimum marks on record at MCKV Institute of Engineering are: X: 0.0, XII: 45.0, Graduation: 0.0.

Admission to this kind of course is usually through JEE Main and state engineering entrance exams. Reserved-category candidates generally get a relaxation in the minimum marks. Check MCKV Institute of Engineering's prospectus for the exact cut-off this year.

Here is the usual route in:

1. Check that you meet the eligibility above and register for the entrance exam in time.
2. Take JEE Main and state engineering entrance exams and keep your scorecard.
3. Apply to MCKV Institute of Engineering on its website (www.mckvie.edu.in) or through the enquiry form on this page, and take part in counselling if a state or central body runs it.
4. Once you are offered a seat, verify your documents (marksheets, ID, category certificate if any) and pay the admission fee to confirm it.

The latest placement figures on record (2023) show a median package of ₹4.01 lakh at MCKV Institute of Engineering. 275 of 318 students were placed that year. These are college-wide figures, not only for this specialisation.

For B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering specifically, the average salary on record is ₹4.02 lakh a year.

Placement numbers vary a lot by year and by branch. Ask the placement cell for the branch-wise report of the last two batches.

MCKV Institute of Engineering runs 8 B.Tech specialisations in all. Worth comparing before you decide:

• B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning)
